Feodora was the eldest daughter of Prince Victor of Hohenlohe-Langenbur, who had been appointed Governor and Constable of Windsor Castle in 1861 and whose portrait is also in the Royal Collection (RCIN 402015). She was adistinguished sculptor, like her father, and was a pupil of Alphonse Legros. From 1892 onwards she regularly exhibited at the Royal Academy, established a studio at Friary Court in St James’s Palace in London and undertook a number of works for the Royal Family. In 1880 Queen Victoria described her as ‘dear & pretty. She has a great deal of talent for sculpture’. Signed and dated: Kate Thompson.1882.
