A group of pugs in a kennel interior with a wooden floor. The pugs are identified by a contemporary key on the frame as: Topsy, Sally, Scamp, Quiz, Minnie, May, and the son of Quiz and Minnie. Painted for Queen Victoria at the kennels at Windsor. Payments to Barber on 17 October 1877 included 15 guineas for 'group of pugs'.
