A charming portrait of a kiwi in agate, with gold feet, a gold beak and set with rose diamond eyes. The precise provenance of this model is not known, but a kiwi was purchased from Fabergé’s London branch in 1908 and is described in the ledgers of the branch as ‘Kiwi(apterise) Brown agate, gold feet & beak’. It cost £26 5s and was bought by the Hon. Neil Primrose, younger son of the 4th Earl of Rosebury.
