An obsidian carving of a seal on a white rock crystal ice floe.The successful combination of obsidian and rock crystal captures the wet sheen of the seal’s skin and the dense ice block on which it rests. There are four examples in the Royal Collection of seals and sea lions carved from obsidian and sitting on rock crystal ‘ice’.
