This work must date from around 1700 and is executed in the style of Van Diest or Van Edema.
An unidentified formal garden contains strolling figures; an hexagonal pond with fountain in the foreground, beyond which a flight of steps leads to a terrace upon which is a garden house; wooded areas either side of steps; potted plants on plinths at bottom.Provenance
Probably a painting mentioned over the mantle in the Duchess of Marlborough's bedchamber at the Garden House in Windsor in 1710 (no 11); in the Cube Room at Kensington Palace in 1818 (no 375)
