Three gelatin silver photographs framed alongside each other to form a panorama of three individual key moments taken during the Delhi Durbar of 1911. Each photograph features King George V and Queen Mary. First they recieve homage from the Indian rulers. In the middle they stand for the official proclamation of George V's assumption of the title, Emperor fo India, and on the right they leave the Durbar in an open carriage.
Kellaway was in India in the early 1900s, having previously worked for a photographic firm in Java. He worked for Bourne and Shepherd in Calcutta, and then the German firm of P. Metzker in Pune. He remained in India until the outbreak of the 1st World War in 1914, when he returned to Britain. He continued to work as a professional photographer in south England for the rest of his career.
