Prince Christian Victor was the first son of Princess Helena, the third daughter of Queen Victoria and Prince Christian Victor of Schleswig Holstein. He followed a military career and fought in the Ashanti Campaign and the Boer War. It was during the latter war that the Prince died on the 29th October 1900, after contracting malaria. He is buried in Pretoria. -
