Circular photograph of Winifred 'Bena' Sturt, Lady Hardinge of Penhurst, sitting on a stone East-Asian sea-lion, in the garden of Sandringham House. The lion-dogs are a pair, and stand on either side or the Buddha.
Sturt was Woman of the Bedchamber from 1901. She was the daughter of Henry Gerard Sturt, a racehorse owner and friend of King Edward VII. Sturt's husband (and first cousin) was Charles Hardinge. They were married on 17 April 1890.
