Mrs Lloyd, along with her husband and child, was captured and held hostage along with other British and Italian tourists by a group of brigands while travelling through mountains just outside of Athens on 11 April 1870; the majority of the male hostages were later murdered in what later became known as the Dilessi Massacre. -
