  • Carte-de-visite full length portrait of Countess Mathilde of Trani. The subject is shown standing in three quarter view, facing the left of the image, with her head turned to face the viewer. On the left of the scene is a decorated wooden shelf, on which Mathilde rests her right forearm. Her hair is wavy and arranged in a chignon. She is wearing drop earrings and she is holding a closed fan in her hands, which she rests in front of her body. She is wearing a mid-coloured silk dress with a fitted bodice, fastened up the front with a row of buttons and a full skirt and crinoline. The dress has full sleeves and a white lace collar and cuffs. The skirt is decorated by a series of darker coloured horizontal stripes, and the sleeves also feature two darker stripes along their length.

Mathilde was the fourth daughter of Duke Maximilian and Princess Ludovika of Bavaria. In 1861, she married Count Lodovico of Trani and the couple had a single daughter.
