  • Carte-de-visite three quarter length photograph of Helene, Duchess of Wurtemberg. The subject is shown in three quarter view, facing towards the left of the image. She is seated in a carved wooden chair and rests her right elbow on a small table by her right side, on which is placed an open book. She is wearing a white bonnet, trimmed with lace, a pale coloured gown and a black lace shawl around her shoulders. In her left hand she is holding a pair of spectacles.

    Born Princess Helene of Hohenlohe-Langenburg, she was the twelfth children and the ninth daughter of Karl Ludwig III, Prince of Hohenlohe-Langenburg and his wife Countess Amalie Henriette of Solms-Baruth. In 1827 Helene married Duke Eugen of Württemberg, a widower of Princess Mathilde of Waldeck and Pyrmont, with whom he had three children. The couple proceeded to have four more children together.
