Photograph album bound in red leather and lined with red silk. The album contains 201 photographs (RCINs 2907973-2908177) of royal subjects from across Europe. Please note that RCINs 2908020, 2908025, 2908033 and 2908123 were not given. A note at the front of the album states that a selection of the portraits were collected by Prince Albert (1819-61).
The album has been inscribed with a note reading: 'All the Portraits in this Volume/as far as Page 19/with the exception of those dated 1862/were collected but not arranged/by/His Royal Highness The Prince Consort/1860-1861.'. A selection of the portraits dated 1862 appear to be copies, as replicas of the works appear in other albums compiled by Prince Albert and dating from 1860-1.Provenance
