Photograph of a painting by Caarl Haag of Carl, Prince of Leiningen (1804-56) and Ernst II, Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (1818-93) within a mountainous landscape. The Prince stands on the left, facing three-quarters to the right. He holds a stick in his left hand and wears a rifle over his left shoulder. On the right of the picture stands the Duke, facing three-quarters to the right. He holds a stick in both hands and wears a rifle over his left shoulder. In the middle ground and background on the right side of the photograph are Ghillies navigating the landscape.
The 1892 carbon copy print is adhered over the top of the original albumen print.Provenance
