Group photograph of the four daughters of the royal family of Hesse, gathered around a portrait of their deceased mother Princess Alice. From left to right: Princess Victoria (1863-1950), Princess Irene (1866-1953), Princess Alix (1872-1918) (holding small photo?), and Princess Elizabeth (1864-1918). Behind them is a photograph and a small bust of their mother, who died on 14 December 1878, on top of a cabinet (possibly RCIN 35317).
