Photograph of a full length, double portrait of Prince Albert Edward of Wales, later King Edward VII (1841-1910) and Princess Alice, later Grand Duchess of Hesse and Rhine (1843-78). The prince and princess stand facing towards the camera. The Prince of Wales places his right arm on a nearby chair and links his left arm with his sister. The photograph was taken in an interior and there are chairs and tables positioned around the brother and sister.
The photograph is from a daguerreotype by Antoine Claudet (1797-1867) who was appointed photographer to Queen Victoria (1819-1901) in 1853.Provenance
