Photograph of a terracotta full length group, depicting a satyr embracing and kissing a naked nymph, or Bacchante. The satyr holds a garland above their heads with his left hand. An infant satyr stands on the right, carrying a panflute in his left hand. Grapes, a wine jug and a tambourine are scattered on the ground.
The sculpture is by Claude Michel, known as Clodion (1738-1814).Provenance
Commissioned by Henry Cole. Later acquired by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert
