Photograph of the granite triangular cairn erected to the memory of Albert, Prince Consort on the top of Creag an Lurachain on the Balmoral estate. In the foreground, a single track path leads vertically across rock strewn open moorland to the cairn which can be seen on the horizon.

The cairn is inscribed with a plaque that is dated 21st August 1862 and reads: 'To the Beloved Memory of Prince Albert, the Great and Good Prince Consort, Erected by his Broken-hearted Widow, VICTORIA R'. This is one of a number of photographs of Prince Albert's cairn that Wilson took of the cairn. This photograph helps set the cairn in the context of its position on Creag an Lurachain. This photograph is a later carbon copy of the original albumen photograph. Carbon was a process that was less susceptible to fading, unlike an albumen print that is prone to discolouration over time.
