Photograph of Sir William John Codrington. He is standing with his head turned to the left and his hands clasped together. He is wearing military uniform and has a sword by his side. The photograph is surrounded by a watercolour illustration by the military artist Orlando Norie showing British and Russian troops fighting during the Crimean War. General Codrington commanded the British troops during the last part of the Crimean War and later became the Governor of Gibraltar.
