Photograph of the interior of Peterborough Cathedral looking towards the choir with the arches of the Sanctuary and Triforium on the left. Above the Triforium are the smaller Clerestory windows. In the background, the cathedral organ can be seen beneath a pointed arch with the choir screen below the organ.
A contemporary of Durham cathedral, Peterborough Cathedral was constructed between 1118 and 1237. It is typical of the Romanesque and Early English Gothic style of ecclesiastical architecture. The Cathedral organ in this photograph was replaced during the 1890's.Provenance
