Photograph of a single arched stone bridge spanning a rocky gorge through which flows the river Braan in Dunkeld, Scotland. The river is bordered by the Craigvinean Forest on either side.
At the same time that the stone bridge was built in the late 18th century, a hermit's cave was also constructed within the Craigvinean Forest by the 3rd Earl of Breadalbane. It is now part of the Hermitage Pleasure Ground in Dunkeld that is managed by the National Trust for Scotland.Provenance
From an album of photographs collected and arranged by Albert, Prince Consort between 1860 and 1861
