Work book containing 319 photographs of HMY Britannia after the honeymoon of HRH Princess Anne (b. 1950) and Captain Mark Phillips (b. 1948); the tour to the Pacific Islands and New Zealand in 1973 and the Far East Tour in 1974; HM Queen Elizabeth II (b. 1926); HRH Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh (1921-2021); HRH Prince Charles (b. 1948) joining HMY Britannia in New Zealand for the Commonweath Games. the work book begins with photographs of Royal Yachtsmen on the veranda deck demonstrating the use of a sextant to check the position of the sun; photographs of RFA Blue Rover in tow; HMY Britannia coming towards Tahiti on the 19th December 1973; Rear Admiral Sir Richard Trowbridge (1920-2003), (active 1970-75) and unidentified Commander looking over the deck with binoculars around their necks; RFA Blue Rover towing HMY Britannia and a sea boat nearby; goods in a net being taken on board Britannia in a net from the sea boat; a shark being captured by one of the Royal Yachtsmen; Britannia anchoring at Rarotonga on the 21st December; FORY being greeted by unknown gentlemen and having a double portrait taken with a gentleman, there is a portrait painting of HM Queen Elizabeth II on the wall; photographs also include local dancers in costume as part of their visit to the island. Photographs continue with Christmas Day; a photograph of James 'Tiny' Little (active 1973-74), the youngest member of the crew who got to be FORY for the day on Christmas Day; FORY and yachtsmen having a drink in the Mess Rooms with someone dressed as Santa Clause; a few photographs of the crew carol singing on the veranda deck; the Royal Yachtsmen dressing up and having a kite flying competition on the deck; Commander Raymond leaves Britannia in Fiji on the 30th December; a number of guests of the Admiral embark Britannia in Fiji and are greeted by the crew; a group of Fijian schoolchildren embark Britannia; Fiji Police Band play on the deck; dinner guests of the Admiral embark Britannia in Fiji; views of the city of Fiji; a guard and a welcome sign to Suva; the Royal Suva Yacht Club; and a cruise liner called ‘Marco Polo, Glasgow’ anchored at the harbour. Photographs continue on board Britannia with crazy sports presentations by FORY; a photograph of the Royal Barge in Auckland Boathouse around the 3rd January 1974; a photograph of yachtside paintwork and other areas of corroded paintwork; arrival at Auckland, New Zealand; HMNZS Canterbury docked at the harbour; guests embark Britannia; FORY and Commanders wearing tropical white uniforms; a photograph of yachtsmen painting the side of the yacht; on the 7th January, a birthday celebration of 20 years for Britannia, photographs include Royal Yachtsmen cutting a cake on the deck; a presentation of toys to Auckland Hospital; a visit to Rainbow Springs, Rotorua a Kiwi wildlife park; a buried village near Rotorua; a Maori war canoe; Lake Rotorua; Whakarewarewa Thermal Area; city views of buildings, railways, shopping, Canterbury Arcade and bridge. The photographs continue at Lyttleton, Christchurch around the 17th January with views of the harbour; an RAF member embarking Britannia and being accompanied by FORY; other guests boarding Britannia; yachtsmen and additional contractors painting the sides of the yacht, took five days to do both sides. HRH The Duke of Edinburgh embarks Britannia with guests, for the opening of the 10th Commonweath Games; photographs of the Games Village; HRH The Duke of Edinburgh visits HMAS Anzac and HMZAS Canterbury, meets the crew and inspects the ship; leaves HMZAS Canterbury with FORY and is greeted by crowds of people, possibly during Australia Day on the 26th January; HM The Queen, HRH Prince Charles, HRH Princess Anne and Captain Mark Phillips embark Britannia; a group photograph of the New Zealand Piping Party’ HRH Prince Charles pays a visit to HMS Jupiter; photographs of the Commonweath Games taking place, including running, long jump, hurdles, inter-ship race up the bridlepath. Other photographs show a New Zealand Captain awarding a trophy to a man, possibly a Royal Yachtsman; HRH Princess Anne and Mark Phillips visit HMZAS Canterbury, meeting the crew; HM The Queen and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh leave Britannia by the Royal Brow to visit Rotorua; HRH Princess Anne and Mark Phillips also leave Britannia in a car; photographs show the nightlife at Lyttleton, including a Royal Marines’ Band playing on the jetty and ships in the harbour; photographs of Britannia leaving Lyttleton, showing the crowds on the jetty with HMS Jupiter and HMZAS Canterbury close by; Rear Admiral Trowbridge photographed with a Lyttleton Pilot; HM The Queen, HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, HRH Princess Anne and Mark Phillips, with HRH Prince Charles, embark at Whangerei around the 5th February; a photograph of the Royal Yachtsmen unloading suitcases from Britannia onto a sea boat; Britannia arriving in Auckland, with escort speedboats and HMZAS Canterbury in the distance; HM The Queen and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh arrive in the Royal Barge and are greeted on the jetty, joined by HRH Princess Anne and Mark Phillips; photographs of Britannia anchored at the jetty; arrival and greeting of an unknown Captain, possibly from New Zealand Navy; Louis Mountbatten, 1st Earl Mountbatten of Burma (1900-79) embarks at Auckland; photographs of the dining room and staff group ready for the evening Royal Dinner Guests; guests arrive on board for the official royal dinner, including the Prime Minister of New Zealand, Norman Kirk (1923-1974) and his wife Dame Ruth Kirk; other photographs show HM The Queen receiving the presentation of New Zealand Contingent on board Britannia and shaking hands with members of the New Zealand Navy; a group photograph of the New Zealand Contingent; HMY Britannia, HMZAS Canterbury and HMNZS Waikato arriving at Whaitangi; a Maori War Canoe arriving with PM Norman Kirk who is then greeted on board Britannia by FORY; a number of unidentified gentlemen, possibly arrived by the war canoe, with FORY; a photograph of the canoe and a number of speedboats as Britannia sails away. The work book finished with a photograph of the Royal Barge with the Royal Party on board, visible are HM The Queen, HRH The Duke of Edinburgh and HRH Prince Charles. The work book includes some inscriptions related to the subject of the photographs and names of people on board the Yacht.
