Photograph depicting a full-length portrait of Augusta, Duchess of Cambridge. She sits on a chair facing three-quarters right. She holds a book open on her lap using both hands. A plinth with a cherub statue on the top stands on the left of the photograph. The plinth is in front of a painted backdrop, which depicts a bookcase containing a large number of books. A curtain hangs behind the Duchess. The photograph is adhered to the first page in a photograph album. The page is decorated with a drawing of two branches tied together above the photograph, creating a frame around the photograph.
Provenance
From an album belonging to Princess Mary Adelaide of Cambridge. The album was given to HM Queen Elizabeth II by the Duchess of Beaufort, and placed in the Photograph Collection on June 7th 1976.
