The Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and York, later King George V and Queen Mary visited Australia during their 1901 tour of the British Empire, in particular to open the first federal Australian Parliament in Melbourne, following the federation of the six Australian colonies in 1900. Sir Donald Wallace was Assistant Private Secretary to the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and later wrote a 504 page book called 'The Web of Empire' about the tour, which featured 78 illustrations by de Martino and Sydney Hall as well as photographs (RCINs 1054650, 1094458, etc.).Provenance
