Pair of square ebony and boullework cabinets; each with one wide door mounted with ormolu. Central mount of classical scene depicting Daphne turning into a laurel tree, above male mask. Four corkscrew ormolu feet. White marble top. Stands on black wooden plinth with grooved ormolu border. Renovated by Morel and Seddon in 1827-8, and clearly displayed in their design for the west elevation of room 207 (RL 18393)
Provenance
Sent from the Ante Room to the Basement Dining Room, Carlton House, to Morel and Seddon on 1st November 1827. Delivered to Windsor 2 July 1828. Renovated by Morel and Seddon for use in His Majesty's Writing Room.
