Photograph of the memorial to Princess Charlotte Augusta of Wales who died in childbirth in 1817. The monument consists of five cowled figures in the throes of mourning positioned at the base. A central figure reaches for the sky with its right arm outstretched and is flanked by two angels, one of whom holds an infant in its arms.
Princess Charlotte was the only child of George, Prince of Wales who went on to become King George IV. Her monument was erected in the Urswick Chapel inside St George's Chapel and was designed by MC Wyatt and was eventually unveiled in 1824. -
