Photograph of Albert Edward, Prince of Wales (1841-1910) with Sir Henry Ramsay (1816-93) and their party. There are eighteen men arranged in three rows. The Prince of Wales is sitting at the centre of the middle row wearing a dark jacket. Sir Henry Ramsay is beside him to the left. All are wearing suits and most are holding a hat. There is a tent behind them and a rug on the grass in front of them.
This is one of a series of photographs from a published volume documenting the tour the Prince of Wales, later King Edward VII, made of India in 1875-76. Sir Henry Ramsay was a very successful Commissioner of the Kumaon and Garwhal districts of India and hosted the Prince during that part of his visit.Provenance
