A photograph of the 18th Century Room or Royal Visitors' Sitting Room (below stairs) at Buckingham Palace. It includes a portrait of George III by Zoffany (RCIN 405072) (others not identifiable). On the left is a half-tester canopy and Empire-style bed, an assortment of chinz-covered armchairs, tables, a pair of Boulle cabinets (RCIN 96.1-2) on either side of the marble fireplace, and an Early Renaissance painting of the Virgin and Child with St John on an easel. On the mantelpiece is the Lepine clock of an African Princess, within a glass dome (RCIN 30390).
