Photograph of a painting of a head and shoulder length portrait of Cosmo I (1519-74). The painting is photographed in its frame. A piece of paper with the number '117' written on it is attached to the frame, in the lower right corner.
At the time of the photograph, the painting was in the collection of Prince Albert (1819-61) and was attributed to Agnolo Bronzino (1503-72). The painting is now thought to be after Bronzino. Following Prince Albert's death, in 1863 Queen Victoria (1819-1901) donated the painting to the National Gallery, London.Provenance
