Items acquired in Egypt, such as ancient scarabs beautifully set in gold to create jewellery for Alexandra, Princess of Wales. These scarabs, ranging in dates between the XII and the XXV Dynasties (c.1985 – 656 BC), were mounted as jewellery in London in 1862. Many were included in a wedding gift from the Prince of Wales to Princess Alexandra, in March 1863.
