The Complete Farmer is an encyclopaedia on agriculture first published in parts between 1756 and 1768. The first complete edition was printed in 1768, going through four more editions up to 1807. It contained all practical knowledge on farming and animal husbandry then known, drawing upon the writings of contemporary naturalists and agriculturalists such as Carl Linnaeus, Jethro Tull, and Arthur Young as well as earlier writers including John Evelyn and Sir Hugh Plat. The work was compiled by an anonymous group of men, all members of the Society for the Encouragement of the Arts (now the Royal Society of Arts).
