Wilkinson's handbook was the first popular travel guide to Egypt. The first edition appeared in 1847. It indicates the growing enthusiasm for touring Egypt and the Nile. This copy of the handbook was once part of the library on the Royal Yacht, and may have been the copy used by Albert Edward, Prince of Wales on his tour of Egypt in 1862.
