recto:
Krishna and the Gopis play hide-and-seek, c. 1730-40
A companion painting to that on the opposite folio (46v, RCIN 1005069.au) by the same artist, Krishna sits in a leafy bower playing hide-and-seek with a lady, possibly his lover Radha, who walks away covering her eyes.
The edge of a roof on the right edge of the work suggests the image has been cropped from a larger painting.
verso:
Painting of a bee-eater, or merops orientalis beludschicus. 17th century.
