The Cameo Service

This dinner plate and soup plate are replacement pieces made by the Imperial Porcelain Factory in St Petersburg for the vast service ordered by Catherine the Great from the Sèvres porcelain factory in France in 1776. The original service was the most expensive created at Sèvres in the eighteenth century. These Russian pieces are exact copies of the originals and were made for Emperor Nicholas I.

Given to King George V and Queen Mary on the occasion of their Silver Jubilee by Sir Harold and Lady Wernher, 1935
