The Bacino looking west

Canaletto often repeated the same subjects in his drawings, in this case a view of the Riva degli Schiavoni, the wide promenade along the Bacino eastwards from the Doge’s palace. The bell tower of San Marco and dome of Santa Maria della Salute are visible in the distance. One drawing is much looser in treatment, the other drawn with more precise hatching.
