Portraits

These portraits were taken in 1927, when her parents, the Duke and Duchess of York, were on an official tour of Australia to open Parliament in the new federal capital, Canberra.

During her parents’ absence, the Princess was entrusted to her grandparents, spending half the time at St Paul’s Walden in Hertfordshire with Lord and Lady Strathmore, and the remainder at Buckingham Palace with King George V and Queen Mary.
