Medals commemorating the marriage of Alfred, Duke of Edinburgh (1844–1900), and the Grand Duchess Maria Alexandrovna (1853–1920)

Schnitzspahn was engraver at the Mint in Darmstadt from 1858, working for various courts, including the Russian one. These medals were evidently commissioned by the bride’s family, since the Grand Duchess is shown in front of the Duke. British medals for the event show him in front.
