The Royal Collection contains a rich variety of material from India. These works span more than 600 years of artistry and craftsmanship. Together, they reflect Britain and India’s shared history – from cultural fascination and exchange, to the complex dynamics of empire and commonwealth.

Almost every region of India is represented. Jewelled daggers, manuscripts, scientific instruments and enamelled boxes showcase the region’s finest materials and techniques.

Today, much of the South Asian collection can be seen on display in royal residences like Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle and Sandringham House.
