Raphael’s paintings of episodes from the lives of Saints

Grouped together in these portfolios are prints and photographs after finished works solely depicting saints (both individually and in company), and drawings for those compositions. Examples include the paintings St George and the Dragon (National Gallery of Art, Washington), Saint Cecilia (Pinacoteca Nazionale, Bologna) and Saint Catherine of Alexandria (National Gallery, London). For saints appearing alongside the Madonna and Child in Raphael’s oeuvre, see ‘Holy Families/Madonna and Child’.
