In addition to the Calotypes and Photographs series, are two early albums of photographs, that similarly contain a variety of subject matter. 

One album, entitled Miscellanies features works by a range of photographers admired by Prince Albert and Queen Victoria, including Philip Henry Delamotte (1821-89) and Francis Bedford (1815-94). The album appears to serve as a record of works favoured by the royal couple. 

The album Calotype Specimens by Ross and Thompson serves a separate function. In the desire to gain further custom and endorsement, the photographers created an album demonstrating their skill as capturing a range of photographic subjects. Following the presentation of the album to Queen Victoria, the photographers were granted the title 'Photographers at Edinburgh to Her Majesty'.
