Discover some of the secrets of Tudor and Stuart fashionable dress with this day-long course associated The Queen’s Gallery’s latest exhibition In Fine Style: The Art of Tudor and Stuart Fashion. The programme will include a special lecture, an opportunity to examine historic textiles and dress accessories and to explore the techniques used to create ruffs, make lace and slash fabrics.

The day will end with a dressing of male and female models to demonstrate the complex layers of garments which created the flamboyant outfits worn in the Tudor and Stuart Courts. Participants will have hands-on opportunities to try some of these techniques and to make a sample piece to take away.

This Study Day has been devised in partnership with The School of Historical Dress.
