This St Andrew’s Day, step inside the beautifully conserved Abbey Strand Centre for special tours exploring five centuries of history. During your guided tour, discover how the building was used as a weapons store for James V; as courtiers’ lodgings for Mary, Queen of Scots and James VI and I; and as a sanctuary for 6,000 people in debt; a site of taverns and tearooms.

Tours will last approximately 45 minutes and will be allocated on a first come first served basis, with names taken on the day. There is a capacity of 20 people per tour. Please meet at the meeting point sign in the Physic Garden.

Abbey Strand Centre is largely accessible with the exception of one room accessed via a small spiral staircase consisting of 4 steps.

The income from your ticket contributes directly to The Royal Collection Trust, a registered charity. The aims of The Royal Collection Trust are the care and conservation of the Royal Collection, and the promotion of access and enjoyment through exhibitions, publications, loans and educational activities.
