Join Learning Curator Dr Richard Williams as he delves into the extraordinary history of St James's Palace. Built between 1531 - 1536 by Henry VIII, St James's Palace has been the setting for some of the most important events in royal history over the last 500 years.

Elizabeth I prayed for victory at The Chapel Royal, St James's Palace before setting out to address her troops assembled against the Spanish Armada, Queen Victoria married Prince Albert in the Chapel and, most recently, King Charles III was officially proclaimed King at the Palace in 2022.

In this digital lecture, Richard will explore the historical significance of this Palace in further detail, explaining the function of the State Rooms and Chapel, both historically and how they are used today. There will also be an opportunity for a Q&A at the end of Richard's talk.
