Join us the Sunday before St. Andrew's Day for a celebration of Scottish art, music, symbols and stories. We have activities for the whole family to enjoy.

    Make a felt thistle

Find out about some plants and flowers with special royal connections while making your own thistle flower out of felt. As you explore the Palace see if you can spot thistles and other special royal plants in architecture, decoration, furniture or paintings.

    Become a royal artist

Artists have recorded many famous residents of the Palace as well as important events. Take inspiration for the paintings in the Palace and have a go at being a Royal Artist in our portrait drawing activity.

    Traditional Scottish Tunes

The Palace has been filled with many different types of music over the years. To help celebrate St. Andrew's Day traditional Scottish fiddle tunes will be performed throughout the day.

Performances will take place at 11:30, 12:30 and 14:30

Short talk - Scottish Signs and Symbols

Scottish symbols can be found throughout the Palace of Holyroodhouse, from architectural details to interior decoration. Join us to discover the stories behind some of Scotland's most famous symbols.

Talks will take place at 11:00, 12:00 and 14:00
