    Steps back over 500 years and discover what writing was like in the time of Mary, Queen of Scots.

    Letters and quills

    Did you know that in the past feathers were used for writing? Join us in the Family Room and have a go at using a quill to write or draw. Discover the way letters were folded so no envelopes were used and have a go yourself.

    Codebreaking

    Did you know that Mary, Queen of Scots wrote some letters in code? Have a go a breaking the code and writing your own secret coded message.

    Mary Queen of Scots Storytelling

    Join professional storytellers Claire and Fergus McNicol as they explore the early life of Mary Queen of Scots. 

    Drop-in 20 minute storytelling sessions will take place in the Great Gallery at 11:00 and 12:00.
