Born and brought up in the north east of Scotland, George Washington Wilson went on to become Queen Victoria’s personal photographer. In this afternoon lecture Paul Stonell, curator of the George Washington Wilson exhibition, explores the life and work of this pioneering photographer.

Some of Washington Wilson’s images are among the most famous of Queen Victoria and her family, and he also captured classic pictures of cities and landscapes, many of which are featured in the exhibition.
