Join our Senior Curator of Paintings Cicely Robinson for this fascinating, in-conversation event with British artist Nicky Philipps.

Rising to prominence in the 2000s as a contemporary portraitist, Nicky has painted portraits of several members of The Royal Family, including Princess Anne and the first double portrait of Princes William and Harry in 2010.

In this digital event, our speakers will focus on Nicky's three-quarter length portrait of Queen Elizabeth II which currently hangs in the Throne Room at Buckingham Palace. Nicky will share insights into her experience of painting a monarch and explain some of the artistic choices involved in planning and executing such an important portrait.
