Maria Sibylla Merian's research into insect metamorphosis was ground-breaking at the turn of the eighteenth century. As an artist, she was able to portray her findings in beautiful compositions, which have been treasured since the day they were painted. Drawing on the rich group of works in the Royal Collection, exhibition curator Kate Heard will discuss Merian’s extraordinary life and remarkable art.
