Discover the challenges and discoveries made by the expert conservators who handle and care for the South Asian illuminated manuscripts in the Royal Collection. See images of these works impossible to view with the naked eye, and hear about the materials and techniques used in conserving these works with Rachael Smith, Senior Paper Conservator at Royal Collection Trust.

With manuscripts up to 400 years old, painstaking work is undertaken to ensure that they are not only stable enough to be displayed in an exhibition, but that they are conserved for future generations to ensure that people can learn from them and enjoy them for many years to come.
