Join Anne Lyden, Chief Curator of Photography at the National Galleries of Scotland, for an exploration of Edinburgh through the lens of early photography, including that of pioneering Scottish photographer George Washington Wilson.
In the exhibition of Washington Wilson’s photography in the Palace of Holyroodhouse you can see some of his highly atmospheric photographs of Edinburgh, highlighting both differences and similarities with the present day. In the collection of the National Galleries of Scotland, both his works and those of others, demonstrate how the capital city of Scotland was a popular choice for early photographers as they honed their craft. Many of these images continue to fascinate and inspire today.
