ALICE HUGHES (1857-1939)

Louise, Princess Royal, Duchess of Fife (1867-1931)

circa 1890 - 1900

RCIN 2913152

This portrait of Louise, Princess Royal, Duchess of Fife (1867-1931) demonstrates Hughes' extensive use of props and backdrops in her photographic practice. Hughes' studio is transformed into a woodland. Princess Louise clearly admired Hughes' work as she commissioned the photographer to photograph herself and her two children multiple times.
